I'm playing a cruise on Couer d'Alene lake this Sunday August 14 from 7-9 pm with The Spotted Cats. It's really exciting to be part of a group that has a vision and is getting work! We've already recorded a CD, and have a website up. We have a commercial that is getting local air time. This cruise will be our first gig, and Garrin has invited several promoters and event planners to the cruise in hopes of getting more work. Tickets have been selling well, and we'll come close to selling out the cruise.
The style is old swing done in a hip new way. In any style of music, there is a dull, lifeless way to play it, and an exciting vibrant way to do it. That's true with orchestras, church organs, and rock bands; the style of music doesn't guarantee quality or excitment.
The Spotted Cats is a band of musicians I really respect who play hard. The music has pop and zing, and I think playing with this group is going to be lots of fun.
I'm just so thrilled to not be subbing and filling in for one gig! I really look forward to honing these tunes and getting the sound just right. Hope to see you there!
